This Columbine was given to me by a photographer friend. I took a lot of different images but played a little bit with the hue and saturation on this one. This was taken inside with window light from the right and a white reflector on the left. Canon EOS40D, 100mm, ISO200, f/32, at 4 sec. Love to hear your thoughts...

I really like it! I like the color change and intensity from the front to the spurs. Nice detail and very sharp in the front of the blossom.

How did you get the black background?

I would like to have seen just a bit more of the stem right behind the blossom, as it is here, at first the stem seems disconnected.

    Nice image!

Hi Nick Sweet image !! It does look like its hanging in the air Love the feel and dark bg I like way you stopped down worked just fine !!!

Like how you handled the light and was wondering if more light could have been directed to the two petals on the left !!! Really enjoying this image Big Congrats !!!!

    Hey Nick,
You can say it.....see you made nice use of my Columbine.....no secrets here on BPN!.....I do see what the others have mentioned.....and a few more inches back or vert may have also worked.....just an FYI also.....since I am working indoors I will take a bit of time and try to seperate the tails (not sure what they are called)......very gently of course......so they don't intersect.....tweezers are wonderful. I also had the same problem you did with one side being a bit dark as Alfred mentioned......so I used a pot lid as a second reflector.... but you can also use aluminum foil on mat board, pie tin, any reflective surface for that matter! All just as effective. Still....all in all I see you have been paying attention and I think you did a great job with the Columbine!
