    Default Gull vs Laughing Gull

I'm not sure...the gull on the left...is that a Herring?

I sure know what a Laughing Gull is. By the time I went home, I was
hearing that 'laughing' in my sleep :(

This was shot at 7:30am during last years Artie's IPT at DeSoto. While
everyone else was trying to get flight shots from the bread Robert was
throwing up, I turned around and caught this herring? trying to attack any
Laughing Gull that got any where close to it.

    Some, got to close...

Very nice image and good timing. i like the composition. May be a little bit less space on left and little bit more on right?

Hey Doug, You did a fantastic job here of capturing the peak of the action. The young Herring Gull's open mouth and the Laughing Gulls wing underwater are just great. Along with a perfect exposure and great framing. Only thing that could have made it better would have been for the immature herring to have its wings swept back completely.

    later and love, artie

ps: DeSoto was pretty dead yesterday morning...

It is a Herring and they are a terror Fabs has a image of one attacking a pair of mating laughing gulls We nickname that bird "Gullzilla"

Real good action and got some excellent positions As suggested having the full up position on the wing would have been great I do like it a lot as presented !!!

Great interaction and light, maybe a bit more room at the right.
