This Wood Duck was photographed from a blind on a small woodland pond. He looks like he's shouting out to the world and he was doing this repeatedly. As I did not hear any sounds, I suspect he simply had something stuck in his throat momentarily. Did make for some nice poses though. :) 40D, 500 f/4 + 1.4X, 1/1600, f/6.3, ISO 400. Comments are welcome.
Thats a fun one Sharp, nice composition, open mouth a plus. Exposure certainly didn't blow the whites, I think you might be able to brighten it just a smidge to bring the whites up a little. This might also give a bit more detail on the dark back.

Steve, I checked and the brightest whites I could find were about 248. I set the white point at the base of the skull where it meets the neck, which brought the whites up a bit, and did reveal a bit more detail in the back. It did remove the yellow cast to the whites as well. That can be good, or bad, depending on what look you are after.
Just an option to try:)
