I like your OOTB thinking. Good to get creative. I do wish the subject was a wee bit bigger in the frame and looking towards us instead. You could also push the darks on the rock and bird darker - this would nicely offset the dark patch in ULC. This might also work as a pano with some off the top.

I was thinking that a pano crop would really work well here. I like the rim lighting of the bird.

Good thinking, Magnus. Love the colours and backlight. Agree that pano crop is the way to go to give the bird a little more weight.

Thank´s for the good comments! I tried to do a pano crop and darken the image a bit! What do you guys think about the new version?

Love it! I love this kind of images, I only wish for a little better head angle. Congratulations!

I also find this image to be interesting. The pano suggestion makes lost of sense. I like your repost, but I would make it even thinner. Great try.

    This would be my version.

Beautiful image, Magnus. I like the warm sienna tones and especially the backlighting of the subject. I think your repost is the stronger of the two. Juan's crop seems a little too confining to me.

    Magnus,
I prefer your repost of the 3 versions to date. And, I appreciate your creativity and the example you have given by presenting something different. It is a beautiful piece of art, and I hope you will keep surprising us.
    Thanks for sharing.

I like the second repost the best. I think negative space is very important in compositions like this and severely diminishing works against it. I like the lighter version. Great out of the box thinking!

Another vote on the second repost. Lovely backlighting, with amazing colours.
