Excellent sharpness, exposure, and COMP. Too much schmutz in the water and a rather ratty subject...

He is rather ratty and there is quite a lot of "schmutz " in the water. I on the other hand think that photographers tend to isolate their subjects from their environment too often. This is where he lives, forages for food and feels comfortable. Portraying " birds as art" is fine, I attempt to do it myself most of the time. I just like to see the inclusion of ones home from time to time whether it be birds or animals. Also, not every subject is a perfect 10. Some of the most captivating photos are not of young beautiful women but old haggard ladies who's time worn faces tell untold stories.

I kind of fall in the middle. I really like the ratty looking bird but would prefer a little less gunk in the water. Especially the oof gunk in the BG.

Very nice exposure control. The low angle makes your subject stand out a lot in the frame. Excellent work!

What Mike said from me too. I think this image deserves a nice spot in your files.
