    Shot this in Texas earlier this month. Fun to watch them thrash around.
    Nikon D300, 500MM F/4 lense, F/8 1/1000, ISO 800, 0 Comp, Tripod mtd.

    Exposure control, angle and eye contact look good. I might crop a bit off the bottom and wish for a bit more head turn toward you.

    I think Axel hit the important tech. points. I do agree about the crop up. Head angle very close, but yes, I think a couple degrees more towards us would be great.

    Lovely colors, I particularly like the lighter green on back.

    Dave,

    My friend from Texas has some great images of painted buntings. Have not seen this behavior. You did an excellent job with exposure and color control. I heard they like bird calls.
