Not your common oriental image, but a more modern interpretation of the theme. Given the Japanese pursuit of the remaining whales of the world, thought it appropriate.

Original image during our whale watch cruise, in Lahina Bay. Text is Japanese for Whale Tail, as best I could create it with my means. Chop Block is NV for Nature's Visions.

Just felt like trying, though I know there are some great images coming on this one, given those so far.

For those of you willing to make your own titles, Google Translate is a site where you can type anything and get the foreign translation in most languages. You pick the "From" and "To" from the pull down. One caution, run it backwards before using it. I tried one translation, which turned out to be inappropriate for this site when translated back to english!  :D

Sorry, size is due to limits of system. Guess I have too many things going on in the image. :(

    Enjoy!

Mark, From what I can see of the image it looks very nice-hard to see at this size, would like a larger version to critique and I think it may be worth the time to try to upload larger- Sometimes when I have too many effects the only way around it is to save for the web and lower the image quality. It does have an Asian Flair and I like the chop and sig.

Hi Mark. I am not too familiar with Japanese art but with the black lines around the whale tail, this seems Japanese to me. I like your chop alot but would like it even more if the calligraphy within it was tranparent and not white! I would like to see the calligraphy without the gray boxes also.
Too bad you can't upload this larger:(

Shame on the size, I don't think we can appreciate the true value of the image. Colors and design seems fine, though.

Here's a try at it. It is a little bigger, though I think the other is clearer, as I had to cut the reso to 72 and the size to 8 max. The original is better than both, but won't fit on the web site. Hope you get the idea from this and thanks for the review and comments.

If I get time I will try again, but it was a lot of work to do this and due to the unknown steps, I don't know how a redo will turn out. We'll see. Maybe later.

Dan, Sorry, but I will leave the title, as I don't have the expertise on that yet. Tried to get it to blend in, but kept having trouble with the commands. Besides digital nightmares, I am new to PP in digital! Learning, but... :( Wish it was as easy as they say and worked like the darkroom steps. Just a learning curve that will take some work, as did the Miniworlds last week! :)

Mark, Thanks for taking the time to re-post-This is an interesting image and a re-do is worth the effort IMO!

Mark, the redo is much more interesting! We can see the details and I can imagine the original. Good one! If you get time to revisit this, try putting the calligraphy on a seperate layer, then play with that layer's opacity, maybe this will allow the BG to show thru? You could even erase that layer right up to the black of the letters!

Per Dan's suggestion on calligraphy, you can use a threshold adjustment to get the full contrast, then just
select with magic wand, invert selection and then drag onto final image.....hope this helps

On the red part, just hit white with magic wand and then delete on keyboard
