Hi, Found this Dark-eyed Junco (red-back) at about the 5500' level foraging along the bank of a small stream in Madera Canyon foraging for dried berries at 13 PM. More identification than anything. Used a Olympus E-510 IS-1, with Zuiko 70-300mm (140-600 equiv) 1:4-5.6 ED, Aperture Priority, F 6.3, 1/640s, ISO 400, 0.00EV, 404mm, Auto WB. Dappled light amongst the trees. I was waiting for this fast moving bird to jump up on that large rock in front of it. Alas, it wasn't in the cards today .. Gus
Tough light in that setting Shadows are just about unavoidable Got excellent sharpness on the bird and a good pose Would blur the area around the bird some Will make him pop even more !!!!
Hi folks, Thanks for looking at my photo. Al, I tried your suggestion by giving the furthest bg a light blur leaving the front twig untouched. In fact, using Robert O'Tooles Quick Mask tutorial I used his eraser tip to clean the twig after selecting the bg to blur. What do you folks think? Gus
