Taken about a month ago at Wellington Point Park. 50D, 400/5.6 at 5.6, 1/500. ISO400, flash and BB. I didn't dare try to remove the bit of fluff on the reed below wren.

Agree with the busy BG, with the two bigger culprits being the horizontal stem touching the belly and the pale vertical one along the right edge. However this is pretty much where how we usually find them anyhow...perhaps you can get one to climb up a reed and clear of the BG for you :-) Good exposure and sharpness on this ffella. It looks pretty relaxed considering how vocal and twitchy they can be.
Dave, great use of flash, as the exposure looks good, with lovely detail. I do find the BG a bit busy as Dan has pointed out. There again, we cant choose their BG anyway.
I like the relaxed pose, light, and comp, Dave. I'm OK with the background because this is where they live (and it really doesn't appear objectionably "busy" to me) - with the exception of the horizontal stem pointed out by Daniel. I would also suggest toning down the two light areas to the left of the bird.
Thanks everyone for comments. This photo, I just noticed is way too saturated for me. I use CS3 for processing and BBrowser for management. When I finished this morning and saved for web, in BB file appeared very flat compared to completed file in CS3. I still had file open in CS3 and went through iterations of up sat by increments of 5 to get BB to match CS3 file. I ended up at sat+20. Now when I see this file, and compare to BB it is too sat. I had not noticed thsi before. Dave
When it comes to removing the fluff, Quick Mask
in combination with Healing Tool is the way to go IMHO.
Artie's Digital Basics has it explained nicely.
Here is my humble attempt by many QM and Healing touches.
Do you think it is worth it?
