    Default Backyard Black-Chinned Hummer

I was on call this weekend and had to work every day. But I did manage to squeeze in a few minutes of hummingbird photography. I was rewarded with this image of a Black-Chinned Hummingbird male.

    Doug:

Well, you made your free time count! The gorget and tail are my favorite points. Excellent exposure, nice comp.
The focus point appears to have been behind the eye just a bit, as the gorget, breast and tail are sharper than the wing. I would have thought that f/stop would have been enough DOF, but you must have been in pretty close!

My only other comment would be that I wish I could see some of the far wing.

    Thanks for sharing this beauty.

Fantastic detail on the tail feathers. I would just apply a small round of sharpening on the face, and would prefer to see the bird smaller in the frame (personal taste).

Doug, Ive always enjoyed your hummers, and this is no exception. Brilliant detail in those tail feathers, Lovely iridescense on the neck, well exposed throughout, and frozen in mid air. Congrats.

Beautiful gorget, love those purple colors.

The fanned tail also adds lost of dynamism to your image. Killer BG, congrats.
