    Mitchell:

Great action captured. Fun to see some images from the D3x starting to show up. I am a Nikon shooter as well.

The exposure looks generally good with a few hot spots on the vulture. The rocky formation is very nice.
In general I like the composition, but wish the birds wings weren't clipped.

If you haven't already, I would be tempted to do shadow recovery and see if you can bring up the two heads a bit.

If you have more of this series, it would be nice to see them.

Thanks for sharing this dramatic interaction.

    Mitchell:

I had a minute, and took the liberty of bringing up the shadows on the jackals face and the vultures as well.

    Just an option.

Thanks for the comments Randy, I do have more from this series and will be posting them soon. It was quite intense bit of action and all happened so quickly. Wish I had a video of it to refresh my memory of what went down. :)

Wow, that makes quite a difference Randy, I am often light handed on shadow recovery. I will try to match this amount of shadow recovery with some of the others from the series. Appreciate you taking the time.

Hey Mitch, great interaction, and love the timid look of the jackal. Super timing to capture both the jackal's open mouth, and the vulture's open beak. Randy has done a good job with the shadows. Looking forward to more of the series.

Hi Mitch, action and moment well captured. light can be quit harsh at GC as the birds normally fly a bit late in the morning and you handled it well. The angle of the light is also not always in your favour. Randy's repost looks better I think. Pity you did not get the top of the wings in as I think you could have lost a bit below.
still a great image and one that I would love to have in my gallery.
