    Default sumo wrestling otters

    D700
    70-200mm f2.8 VR with 1.7TC
    340mm
    ISO 800
    f6.3 at 1/320s
    Aperture Priority mode
    Matrix Metering
    -0.3EV
    Auto white balance
    handheld
    Captive

Adjust white balance, cropped, adjust curve, reduce noise in the background, and sharpen.

Taken at a zoo, the two otters are going at each other. Should have bump up the iso for a faster shutter speed, maybe ISO1600 with 1/640s or ISO3200 with 1/1250s would capture a sharper image. All comments and suggestions are welcome.

Nice action captured and agree that it could be sharper. Still nice to see!

Hi - Tough work at a zoo - love the action, feel it could use a little CW rotation, it is a little soft - that lens converter combo is killer and capable of tack sharp shots. So yes bumping the ISO may have helped or a monopod if they were allowed to be taken into the zoo.
Still some selective sharpening in P.S will help.

Nice pose and action. The left otter isn't bad for sharpness, a little soft but that could be fixed with some selective sharpening. The main thing that bothers me is the blurring of the right otter. If you had gotten that one sharp too, it would have been perfect. Hope you get a chance to try again!

    Hi Thanaboon Jearkjirm

Hope you don't mind maybe i should have asked your permission first before i did a little editing to your photo. Heres what i did , i just selected the Otters and let a filter do the rest in photoshop. I did not touch anything else from the original . Hope you like what i done :)

Oh and BTW you have a fine capture here, love it :)

Thank you all for the comments. I don't have a monopod but I do have a tripod, a bit heavy and bulky one, but I'll take that with me next time.

I don't mind at all about editing my photo, you showed me how much sharper it could be with Photoshop. I tried with mine but didn't come out as sharp as your, can you tell me which sharpen filter did you use. I used smart sharpen, Amount:35%, Radius:1.0pixels, Remove:Gaussian Blur. I tried playing around with the parameter to sharpen more but the picture came out looking too over sharpen (especially the eye).

Here is mine. Oh, I also added a little warmth to the picture.
