    Pond Heron in Breeding plummage..

Shooting with my new equipment i have started loving the images with rocky background. The sharpness and the color reproduction of the lens are so amazing..

    Thanks for watching...

Rocky texture makes and interesting BG. A lower angle would have been nice to blur things a little more behind the bird. I like the colours but the image looks a little soft - not sure if this is just sharpening needed to optimise for web presentation or whether the 1/190s is responsible as there is some motion blur in the foot.

I know why you are so happy with the 300 2,8. I have been using one (in the Nikkor line-up) along three years and it is an amazingly sharp and fast lens that behaves very well with teleconverters. You are going to love that glass. Mine was sold yesterday and today I am missing it :-(

I agree with Tony about the angle, it is a bit step. The garnite BG is a bit distracting but I have to say that I like it, is interesting and not usual for a heron. The processing job produced an excess in contrast and saturation from my point of view. Regarding the composition, I would prefer the bird placed more towards the upper left corner. Keep them coming ;-)

Good looking heron, and a great look at the feet. Not sure about the BG though. I appreciate that it is different for a heron but I find it rather distracting. We're you aiming down on it, or is it walking down a steep incline?

    Danie,
Sorry for the late reply. Yes it was walking down a steep incline. i could not lower my angle as i was sitting on the bank of a pond!!! Thanks for the critics...
