You selected an interesting subject in near-prime condition, the exposure is good, and the image is sharp enough. In addition to the problems mentioned above, the perch tself and the distant tree in the LRC are quite distracting, the bird is a bit too big in the frame, and there are several dust spots in the URC. The reason for the lack of eye contact is the poor head angle; the bird's head is turned well away from you.
