The chicks are here so Poppa has to do his share of bringing food to the nest. Both male and female keep bringing all types of insects to feed the younguns :)

Excellent wingspread Fabs, and I like the backlighting through the wings too. His catch a bonus.

Cool pose and eye contact. The eye looks a bit overexposed and the body a bit noisy. I've noticed that purple martins often have feathers that appear punctured. Does anyone know if this is due to nesting material?

    Amazing work Fabs!

I have tried several times to photographs this guys but at the end I just go back home with nothing. But you got more lucky and present us a great image of this guy. The eye is not as focused as one might desire but come on... I wish this one would be in my files!
    Congrats on a great image.

Totally amazing; love the feet and the dragonfly. Is this a crop?

75% of frame, Maestro, didn't want to use the converter not to loose AF speed.

    Thanks!!!

I forgot to mention, this was taken at the Martin's houses in Robert's is Here, Florida City. Shake heaven ;)

Perfect wind, of course, out of the East SE this morning, only problem was the Sparrows have the holes facing the road and the Martins the ones in the back side. except for one nest with at least two chicks :)
Biggest mouths I've ever seen!!! So they came in ow and to the back, but we stil managed to get a fre keepers. Got a great female, will post tomorrow.
We'll be checking our luck tomorrow.

Great under-wing details and overall sharpness !

On my monitor the belly looks kind of dark, still have a hint of details though.

    Wonderful as usual :)

Very nice full frontal capture Fabs. love the detail captured in the dark feathers.
Could you please tell us what the BG is?

I have noticed this too, Axel. I was wondering whether some parasites may be responsible for chewing holes in the feathers. This link suggests a louse may be responsible in some cases http://www.bioone.org/doi/abs/10.1645/GE-1542.1
Superb image, Fabs - looking forward to the next one.
