Here's one I got the other morning up high in the mountains. These guys are such clever little nectar robbers...

I like the soft light, exposure control, details, BG and the large perch makes the bird look pretty small. How big is this species?

They are very small...warbler size I would say...

I like the shot, lots of nice detail in the bird and the unique perch. I would however move your signature to the bottom right as it's very distracting where it is and you might consider cropping just a bit off the bottom .. just my 2 cents.

Glenn, what a nice bird and a wonderful perch! I do think a crop would place him more prominently in the frame, though. I'd suggest cropping off the top just below where your signature is and then taking maybe two rows of leaves up from the bottom.

Although I'm not a fan of big perches, this one actually looks great and since the bird is so plain, it does not compete in colors :)

Glenn, excellent exposure on the blacks, and love the pose. He's standing on a lovely perch, against a killer BG. I would crop off the bottom, just below the pink flowers.

To me this perch is rocking!

Some times we just want to see the bird alone but in this case the plant (which is very interesting) adds a lot to the composition, at least IMO.

In CR we have a relative of this species, the Slaty Flowerpiercer measuring 4''.

Lovely image Glenn. I agree about placing your signature on the LRC.

I love the detail in the black bird and the COMP as presented (but definitely not the signature).

This is is one of those images that really attracts my attention. I like the full presentation also as the beautiful perch is a good stage for the black bird, and the DOF adds to the overall impact. As the others have noted, the signature is a real distraction, especially being at the top of the image. Thanks for sharing.

Glen, spot on here with the composition despite having a "smaller" bird. The environment plays an important part IMHO to the overall scene at times and this is definitely one of those. The clean BG helps with this one.

Lovely soft light. Perch and BG lovely but another vote for trimming a bit off the bottom.

The perch is excellent, the exposure and BG as well. Cool shot Glenn yet again! You're doing great over there!
