Default Older edition of Canon Lenswork

Do you have the Canon Lenswork II? This book below is a much older edition; good description of lens concepts.

    From the POTN net.

I found this while poking around; it is the 1986 version of Canon's "Lenswork". Here is the link for free download:

For me, this is far superior to the recent editions of Lenswork, which seem to me to be advertisements with pretty pictures. One of the things I like about photography is the intersection of art and physics. This manual explains the effect of focal length on perspective better than any other, and it shows examples of the same photograph at 24, 50, 100, 200, 400... and it is easy to understand that zooming is different from moving!

It's 152 pages long, and I've only gotten through the first couple chapters. But stuff is already making a heck of a lot more sense. And, while the particulars of the FD lenses might not be important, 50mm is still 50mm, 135mm is still 135mm (make your crop adjustments as needed), and the physics is still the same. An invaluable FREE resource.

Are these freely available somewhere or do you have to buy them?

John, this is the link for Lens Work III which I believe is the latest version; it is a series of .pdf files which you can download.

Does anyone have a later version that III?
