These little birds were out in force this morning at a nearby lake. I caught up with this one as I stood on the downslope across from this gravel walkway around the water.

Hi Julie. I like the alert pose and the raised foot. Sharpness is good as is the low angle. Some of the whites look a little hot. And I'd probably smooth out the transition from green to pink up top. Good to see you posting here!

Interesting crop. I like the nice bg and the walking pose.

I like the angle, pose and BG and would run NR on the BG.

Good angle, BG, and pose. The light seems a little harsh, though you can't do much about that. As mentioned above the whites are a little hot. Also the blacks look just a tad blocked to me.

    Overall well done.

Julie you did a good job with this guy. the pose is fantastic and the Bg is very good. I am also sure that this image would work very fine in landscape format with more room at the left. The raised leg is really nice :-)

Thanks everyone! I went back and redid the raw file...I did have a few whites and blacks blocked so I opened them back up. I also softened the transition at the top of the frame as Doug suggested, using the clone tool at 50% to smooth between the two colors. Last of all, I ran some noise reduction on the BG.

Julie, lovely low angle, with a super pose. A raised foot always adds, so well timed to capture that, and you have worked it well with your repost.

    Jules,

Good work especially for a cropped photo. I agree with everyone. Love the look of the eye on this fella.
    Thanks for sharing....
