    Default Piping Plover in grass

Yesterday I took many shots of this plover. Many, including portrait close ups, had great backgrounds. This one has a blade of grass across the plover and it is turned partially away. There are other items that could be "distracting." However, I like this shot the most as it places the plover in "its" environment more than the others. Just wonder what others think. I had a 1.7 on my 600 for other shots I was taking and had no time to take the tc off. Basically uncropped.

    D300 ISO 200 1/640 f/10 EV-.7 Shot at uniwb - changed to 5300 in NX.

Nice light, and tack sharp. Head and body angle is not good however. Also the blades of grass are distracting for me, but I guess they do portray its environment.

These guys can be tough to photograph. I like the angle and details and agree regarding the body angling away and the blade of grass on the right is unfortunate. The good thing is you know where these plovers are. It's always a great excuse to go back. :)

Nice low perspective, good exposure, and sharp details. But for me this image has flaws. The body angling away is undesirable. Although I like the environment, I do not care for the blades of grass in front of the bird's tail. Having no time to take of your TC left you with the bird a bit tight in the frame.

So it is 0-3. I have plenty of shots without the grass. I thought in this case the grass added something - not just another shorebird on a "blank" beach, but maybe it is just me.
