    Hi all,

I am very sorry for my lack of participation.
Finally, after 2,5 months of working 24/7 on my Black-tailed Godwit research, looking for nests, and colour ringing individuals to get a good idea of dispersal movements from and to different areas, I have found some time to upload a picture. This was taken during one of the long sunny days searching for Godwit nests. This female kestrel was the most easy going kestrel I have ever seen, she would allow me to get out of the car with my camera and take as much pictures as I wanted. She even went hunting just in front of me, this was taken right after she took a nosedive into one of the grassfields on a dairyfarm.

    Thanks for looking,

Good to see you back, Krijn. I have also had a period of work enforced BPN deprivation so can empathise. Lovely comp and I like the contrast between the spiky grass and soft plumage. I might darken the paler areas near the top of the frame and a slight burn along the bottom and the corners may focus in on the bird a little more.

Creating pleasing images of birds in the grass is a huge challenge; you have created a wonderful one here. The image design and the height of the grass are perfect. Welcome back.

I agree with the above comments and would only suggest a bit more NR. Congratulations!

Its a beautiful composed and very sharp picture.
If it would have been my picture, I would darken the slightly yellowisn dried up OOF grass just above the top of the bird.

    Hey Krijntjo!

I remember having you on the phone while you were taking this series....excellent photograph buddy...but too bright IMHO. I think the repost is a bit more as it should be.
