    Default Damaged Shutter

From a few years ago the shutter of my 1DsMk2 broke but only one blade. At first is difficult to see what is going on particularly with darker bg images. Wanted to post this so you could see what it looks like, with lighter images like sky bg it is more noticeable. Not a difficult fix !! btw you can see the damaged shutter in the image starting at the signature between the A&f then curves upward !!

Image made at Sanibel Island during one of the IPTs I'm not a big fan of the bent wings but this looked sort of pleasing and do like the different bg since normally we get sky !!

    Comments welcome and much appreciated

    Alfred,

This is very eloquent. Like the color and sharpness especially in the bill. Would not know the shutter was damaged. I like the darker BG.

    Thanks for sharing.....

Your timing was perfect Alfred with a wonderful flight pose and killer BG. Exposure is spot on . Love it.

When it comes to your images Al, I think you would do great even with a broken lens:)
The shadow on the wings is there, but all of the attention is on the rich orange color
of the bill and the superbly exposed whites, in contrast to a dark BG, so it makes it
    a great image, real treat...

I like the landing posture, and this is well exposed, and sharp. Great OOF BG too.

Would not have noticed the shutter if you hadn't pointed it out, Alfred - still hard to see. Beautiful soft light along with excellent pose, sharpness, and comp.

Alfred, it is difficult to make out the flaw without you letting on. Would this be a one off thingy or does it happen regular?

As for the photo, I like the lighting and underwing details.

Not often but its something to watch when the shutter goes, at times its only a blade like here but other times the thing actually falls out in chunks !!!

I wouldn't have noticed the broken blade on this one. Glad you pointed it out so I know what to look for...Fine flight image with such a nice pose captured. Nice work on the exposure and I'm glad you kept taking photographs even with a broken camera. ;)
