Yes, it's still Costa Rica time! This bird was an exciting find for us and at first he was in a tree partially obscured by leaves and twigs; then he moved out into the open and although the light direction wasn't ideal, you work with what you get, right? I upped the exposure hoping a high key effect might capture the colors and detail of this gorgeous guy. I'm pretty happy with it although I'm looking forward to having another chance next year. C&C encouraged and greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

I love the composition and the high-key look Katie. I might darken the bird just a little. That was a great encounter, wasn't it?!

Great work Katie! I really like the high key idea but I agree with Doug, a little bit darker on the bird and perch. This has an "Asian art" look to it! The negative white space is a key element in Chinese art! Cool. I want to put a "chop" or seal in the comp somewhere, maybe in the upper left area:D

Gorgeous Bird - Katie - Like the high key effect - agree bird could be a tad darker. Love the composition - only nit would be the shooting angle - but Gez I'd be plenty happy with it the way it is - Nice work :)

Katie, I love the high-key BG and agree w/ Techs. I do think it has an Asian look to it and adding a chop would be cool. Great looking bird and perch!

Katie, I like the image very much but for my taste I would crop some off the top.

Katie, great job on this image. I have to disagree with the others and say that I would not change a thing. In my opinion, you were going for a very different look and achieved it with this exposure. Letting the overcast gray sky go white worked very well. Love the composition -- full frame, right? :-)

    Cheers,
    Greg
