I believe this is a bank swallow adult, but shot from a higher
angle and straight on..
50D, 400DO f4, 1.4xII, iso 400, shot at F8 and 1/1250th
off a beanbag using my suv as a hide.

Don:

Cuteness factor very high. Sharp and well exposed.

The large flat tan area at top is very distracting. I strongly consider darkening that area significantly. The stick right behind him is too bright too, esp. on the left, but not as distracting as the larger area above the head.

You also might be able to bring up a little more detail on his left side with shadow protection.

I am not sure if the composition is working for me but overall, this is a great catch. I do believe that it is a northern Rough-winged Swallow.

The shooting angle and light angle are not the best and the BG is very distracting in my opinion. The details in the eye are very good

Quick pass at your image.

1) cropped to get rid of some BG issues
2) reduced brightness and contrast of upper area
3) Brought up shadows on birds left side

Still, needs work, but I think it shows some options for you.
