    Default Cerulean warbler

watching these beauties in the treetops, I was stunned to find one feeding on insects low in a shrub. I've waited a long time to get one in the open like this!

    Shutter speed: 1/80 sec
    Aperture: 7.1
    Exposure mode: Av
    Flash: On
    Metering mode: Multi-segment
    ISO: 400
    Lens: 500mm
    Focal length: 700mm

Don't you love surprises like this! Good job with the low shutter speed...and nice of the warbler to pause just enough to prevent subject motion blur :-) Not super crazy about the dark area on the perch (I like the rest of it), but we don't always get to choose. Great pose you got too.

    Jeff:

Lovely fellow. Daniel hit the high points. I tried a couple quick fixes for the black spot in perch, wasn't happy with any of them.

I have yet to ever see one of these beauties, good catch!

Super pose, and I like the softer colours on the warbler. You did very well considering your ss.

Wonderful capture; I wish only that his head were parallel to his body.
