    Default Bison Flexibility

The Wichita Mountains NWR of Oklahoma is a wonderful place. My visit in November yielded opportunities with Coyote, White-tailed Deer, Prairie Dogs, tons of Raptors, and some interesting fall foliage on the scrub oaks. This particular morning, I found An American Bison basking in the morning sun. When this scene unfolded before me, I could not believe my eyes. I need a good caption for this! If you have an idea for a funny name, please, let me know.

    Nikon D300, 300mm f/2.8.

Haha, seen it before, still love it. You couldn't get any eye contact? =) Love the light.

That is a lot of weight to lift like that! Kind of hard to get a perspective on the bison.

I am bad at captions. So can't suggest. However, that is quiet an exercise. I guess the harder you try, the better is the result. :D

I like roy's caption, I was thinking on the same lines. A little too orange for my tastes. Nice composition.

Thanks for the comments so far. I think "because I can" is an excellent idea. All of the best ideas I have would just be inappropriate to display in a public setting :-)

Fabs, I hear ya about the orange. Being new-ish to wildlife photography in general, what would you suggest I do? I've been struggling with getting it to look right. The orange is there because the photo was taken less than five minutes after sunrise. I tried desaturating the oranges, and playing with the WB, but couldn't get it where I want it.

Alex, I went to Color Balance and used -10 on the Cyan-Red slider, towards Cyan, and checked Highlights, since most of the cast was on the light BG.
Then I used the mask provided in the layer and painted black at 50% to get some cast back to the buffalo, preserving the "golden hour" cast.
    Hope it works.
Color Balance is a great way to correct casts, if you can identify the intrusive color.
