I found this crab on an Oregon beach in April early one morning before the sun cleared the hilltops behind the beach. It was still alive, but just barely. I like the stark mood created by the dark sand and subtle light. 40D, 90mm tilt/shift - tilted to maximize DOF, tripod, mirror lock, 1/6 sec, f/16, ISO 400. Comments are welcome.

How neat that you used a tilt/shift lens for this image! I really like that. It's so beautifully done...love that you have him in the ULC...it gives us lots of room to see him against that beautiful dark sand. I really like the rim of light just past his right claw where the sand indents. Nicely seen and executed.

Now I want some crab cakes...

Hey Steve, the great looking sand really makes the crab pop. Good sharp details.
