    Default Jackal Buzzard

This photo was taken over the weekend from the Giants Castle hide in the Drakensberg mountains.
The light was unfortunately from the wrong side, and there was nothing that could be done about it, other than making the best out of the situation.

    Camera: Canon 1D mk3
    Lens: Canon 500 f4 + 1.4 TC
    App: f6.3
    SS: 1/1600
    ISO: 640

Oh man too bad about the light (as you mention), but maybe some careful S/H tool and dodging/burning manipulation can somewhat negate the harsh look. Terrific pose, BG, and just enough perch to nicely anchor the image.

Agree with Daniel, too bad about the light, but such an extraordinary raptor.
I love the colors and texture of the plumage.
I wish we see more of this bird from you.

The pose is also quite interesting and dramatic.

Dave, I like the landing posture, with the outspread wings. Good feather detail, and stands out nicely against the BG. I would maybe add a bit more sat and contrast to this.

    Thanks Guys.
    Revised image as suggested.
Slight shadows and highlights adjustment (just a touch)
Levels and sats adjusted a touch.
    Hope it is an improvement.
