While photographing white storks I got intrigued by their balance. Large as they are, they build their nests high up in a tree, on a chimney, roof or some other high man-made construction, exposing themselves to the elements. Those long legs seem just a fragile assembly of thin bones and light tendons. And this is how they spend a significant time of their lifes...balancing on one leg. To emphasize this, I went in close and came up with this composition...which for me really shows the fragility of this large bird.
Interesting image. Technicals good, although I might dim the front of the nest, a bit bright.
I like the backstory here. I think this image will work as part of a series, but perhaps not as a stand alone image. I think that because you are trying to show the large bird and slim, monopod support, you would need to include enough of the bird to get that impression across.
I appreciate the OOTB thinking. I tend to be pretty literal, so it will be interesting to get more input.
Interesting Jasper I like how you have framed here. It has a fresh feel to it. Agree w Randy about toning down the brights on the nest a bit as they seem to catch your eye. Otherwise I think it is VWD.
I think that I would prefer this to a vertical for its simplicity. I love the inclusion of the bill.
