Im not sure if you guys get these mischievious coots over there. They tend to be minding their own business, when suddenly they will chase one of their own across the water. They have pretty large feet for their size, as the can scamper across the water fairly fast. With all the spash behind, I realise there is not much space to run into.

We have coots, just not that one. We have the slang phrase, "crazy old coot" implying odd or unpredictable behavior, so I suspect ours behave about the same as yours!
I appreciate your comment on the composition, but the splashing is such an important part of the image, that I am fine with the comp. It helps that it is running on the diagonal.
It looks like you did pretty well on the exposure. I suspect it is very easy to toast the head and bill. I don't see a lot of detail in the cap, but am not sure what it should look like.
Randy, thanks a lot for your feedback. The cap is smooth so there will be no detail. Not sure what it is made of, it could be a continuation of the beak. I checked, and there is no blown area on it, but at times, very difficult to get right.
Very nice capture, Stuart. Action at the perfect timing. Although they are different to ours in the top of the head, behavior seems to transcend continents :)
