While out with Lou,Grace,Ted,Jimmy and Tom this GH Owl chick gave us a few good looks. Very tough to shoot as it was high up so the angle is steep and as with most owls , they like to surround themselves with lots of branches and leaves. Still great fun with good company.

    Joe:

As a memory aid, this is a fine image. Sounds like you had a fun time out with friends, so this will remind you of the outing. I think your self critque hit the high points. I also find the bird a bit too bright, it just doesn't look quite natural to me. The clutter, and very bright background also tend to distract from the bird.

Might be worth a try at backing down the background lighting a bit, and perhaps lowering the brightness of the bird itself just a bit. If the background is a bit dimmer, I think the bird won't have to be so bright to look good.

    Thanks for posting.

Pretty open look at one this young. Interesting to see the "adult" face starting to come out of that fuzzy baby body. BG is a bit bright (as expected) and I'd tone down the brightness of the bird just a tiny bit too. Possibly worth trying to blend two processed versions of the same file for BG highlights and subject if you enjoy that kind of thing.

I spent a minute adjusting the brightness of the bird and background. Not a big change, but thought it might be a little better if not so bright.

    Joe,

A real solid image in every way. Very good color, sharpness and he's definitely into being hidden. How did you fine this complete fur ball?

    Thanks for sharing......
