    Did quite a bit of masking with blend modes (multiply on whites, screen on blacks) to even out the exposure and to avoid blown whites and notes from Artie.

    The incoming angle, BG and nesting material look good. I wish for a better wing position of the near wing and would increase contrast since the blacks look a bit washed out on my monitor.

    I like the idea here Susan- action, placement of the bird with anticipated movement to lower right. I played with the image in Ps and found a slight increase in contrast (Linear contrast preset in Curves) and some sharpening seemed to work well.

    Susan, the harsh light you have to work with most of the day is not ideal for overhead flightshots. You certainly made best of it, but I'd suggest to go back during another time of day when the light is a bit better and I'm sure you'll bring home something stunning.
