Photographed this recently in Texas. Truly a noble looking bird.

Perfect pose and head angle !!! Clean bg and all very sharp ... good looking bird !!!

Good quality for the high ISO ... which noise reduction program did you used? Might try applying some Gaussian blur to the bg but not bad as presented !!! I like it a lot !!!

Hi Alfred, I used Noise Ninja. I find the D300 can handle up to 1000 iso with very little noise. Any noise I get(depends on the image) NN takes it out.

Amazing image! These birds are beautifull when are well photgraphed as this one! Light is terrific, detail, exposure, colors, perch, pose and BG are also stunning! I would only suggest to apply a bit more USM to the body and wing, just a tad more :)
Big congratulations! Superb Caracara Image Dave!

Good light, colours and detail in this, and what a magnificent looking species. I like the left leg holding onto the perch.

Great image Dave. I love the mottle background as it really highlights the caracara.

Dave, Really nice capture. The pose and perch and BG all came together nicely.

I like the eye contact, light and BG. I would give it more room and sharpen the bird more. I would have gone to a lower ISO since the shutter speed is relatively high.
