I like the composition and the mood of this image. I don't mind that the nose is not lit. On the left the bright stick attracts attention, but is not too distracting to require a crop. I think this image sums up the mood in the night.

I cannot make my mind up about this, in particular the half lit face. One thing for certain it has an interesting mood.

Stephen, I like the light on the face showing up the eye. I presume from a spot light, and I see you didnt mention flash, so great exposure, and good use of ISO. Well captured.

Now this is a scary image - imagine seeing just that as you're walking along!! I like the lighting especially since the eye is really lit up. The large expanse of dark to the right is a bit heavy IMO but not sure how you could reduce it without losing some of the prime subject.

I think the dark expanse to the right helps to give the lioness something to move into and helps to give a feeling of really in the dark, all alone, and whats around the corner. Good scary mood. I would not want to see her in my path to the outhouse.

I like this one, very nice mood here to set the scene. The intense look as if she is ready to attack. Agree with Grady that the dark area enhances the image.

Wonderful shot. I love the lighting and the head-down, eyes-up gaze.

Some small cloning suggestions (animated gif):
