    Default A Daughter photo

This is a big crop from a color photo. I really liked the B&W conversion here. Taken with the cheap little plastic canon 50 f/1.8 about 4 years ago.

Lovely girl and love the conversion Some images do look great in B&W and this would look great in either !!!

Don't sell short that lens Might be plastic and ship but produces some fine images !!!

Thanks, Alfred....this is a huge crop, and I am a little amazed how well this lens held up doing that. I have since given it to another daughter's boyfriend...but not because it couldn't take a good picture. Just needed to be stopped down. The original shot that this was cropped from is here...you can see what I mean by a big crop.

Wow what a gorgeous young lady. I love both versions and her wonderful smile puts it over the top for me. Thanks for sharing your beautiful daughter with us.

    Nice image and daughter.

I like both the B&W and color versions. I would suggest you consider less of a crop. While the B&W is nice, I think given the color full frame that the attached is another option. The tree is a little heavy in the full image, therefore I cropped it, as you also did in the B&W. But I like the full portrait with a minor crop on the top, as needed. I think taking the top off of the hat brings you into the image.

Again, both of your shots are very good and the above is just one suggestion if you wish to consider it. I tried to put her left eye on the intersection of the rule of 1/3rds lines. Adds power to the image.

Mark....I think your crop is great. When I worked on this photo (several years ago) I tried many crops, but not as you show. It works very well and is an improvement to my eye. The original color verson posted here is not cropped at all, if I remember correctly. I have both versions printed, and have decided that I like the B&W crop better than the color version, but was very happy with both of them. I think I will do your crop and do another print in color. Thanks for the help...........

No problem, one nice thing about this site is all are helpful in one way or another. We don't have to agree, but looking at the options provided gives us alternate choices we may not have seen.

Good luck to you and your daughter is definately model material, if she would so choose.

I am not sure I should tell her about all the compliments here....might give her a big head (just kidding). Thanks to everyone for the nice words...she is a great girl.

She looks like a very kind young woman and I like both versions, Mark's crop suggestion would strengthen it.

    Beautiful daughter Steve!

Great B/W image, I will tell you, that cheap lens is a great one!

Mark's crop suggestion seems pretty good to me.

Thanks, Mike...........I figured you needed a few non-birders on the site. Even birders like to see a landscape once in a while. Thanks for the nice words.

Thanks to Mark for the help and suggestion on cropping. Here is the revised color version in 8 X 10 format.

With such an intriguingly beautiful young woman any crop works great. I love the original post.
