    Default Preening Interruption...

Very early morning with clouded sunrise found this beauty preening at eye level. I went to 1600, exposed all the way to the right, locked down the Mongoose head as this beauty raised it's head to greet me. I could not get high enough to eliminate the light strip at the top, but I liked the one feather (clearly his/hers) left from preening. One round of NR and cropped to square for composition.

I love it right down to the tiny feather. Great control of d-o-f and getting the whole bill sharp. Noise control excellent. Yyou might tty lightening the iris just a bit with a QM.

Nice portrait and head angle. Adding to Artie's suggestion, I would selectively sharpen the head more and run NR on the BG.

Excellent advise above. The diagonal formed by the bill makes it a strong composition.
Was this at Green Cay or Viera Wetlands.

Excellent comp, and I like the detail in this. The tiny left over feather adds to the image. I would give this another round of NR on the BG.

Thanks as always for the learnings. Fabs, this was early morning (before walkers) at Green Cay.

    Beautiful as can be!

Great portrait of this great bird. I agree about lightening the eye a bit.
