Exposure and angle look better on this one. I also like the details and eye contact and only wish we could see more of the feet.
Definitely a pretty redhead! Good sharpness. Agree with Axel's comments. Wondering about reframing with a little less below and a little more above to lower the bird in the image as it object of it's interest seems out of frame.

I prefer the repost - you could trim a bit off the right if you want to keep the original aspect ratio.

Nice image, nothing more to add to above. I like the repost better. Just curious, Karl, is this bird's location still a secret, or are you able to divulge its home? I live in Ontario (Toronto, actually), and have actually never seen a pileated woodpecker.

I agree that this is much better than the first one that I saw as the bird is not angled away from you. I prefer the original post to the cropped repost but would like to see a smaller crop from the bottom in the ORIG.

What a beauty! The only suggestion I would add is to mask out the bird and tree and adjust those elements and the background separately. There's a good deal of pop still lurking in this very fine capture.
