Default Snowy Plover on the Dune

One from a couple weekends ago. I did some cloning here. I removed several grasses that intersected the breast and one that went right between the legs. also one at the rear of the bird. cleaned several on the frame edges to.

PP wise, i got a question. I tried something new. Applied a 3% NR before applying any sharpening. even to the bird. then applied the sharpening. seemed to bring out better detail in the bird like that. anyone ever do that? cropwise, a little off the top and a sliver of the right for compo. i'd say this is about 85% of the original.

    D300, Bigma at 500mm, f/9, 1/1000s, ISO 500, 0EV.

thanks for looking. comments and critiques appreciated.

    You are not alone Doctor,
I do the same thing from time to time depending on the variables I have at hand...:D I like the composition, image and capture...the little guy is placed just right in frame...love the ultra low capture angle...the color rendition and details on your subject are superb...and you did a fine clean up job in the post processing...good show...

PS work looks good ... don't really understand the question ... last thing I always do is sharpening?

the NR was applied to the bird also and left on it. i find it actually helps sometimes. otherwise, when i sharpened the bird it would look all noisy and not very good. with the NR on the bird, it takes a heavy sharpening with no problem. BUT not on all images, just certain ones.
