Fantastic display of his crest. The white wing feathers are interesting. If you look back through my threads, I have a couple of a red with the same white feathers. Mine were from Little Estero.
The light looks pretty harsh here, but I can still see some details in the white feathers. Generally this is not a great head angle, but the elegant pose and the great crest are real pluses.
Depending on what your concept is for the image, I might consider a little tighter crop. It would emphasize the bird more. This is a very personal style choice, but might be worth some alternative crops just to see.
Just a quick pass at a repost for you. Mid tone adjustment to give a bit more density to the greys, some highlight protection to bring up a bit more detail in the whites, and of course a different crop. I tried to maintain the elegant look here, but show off the bird more.
The file size was working against me here, and some quality/compression issues are starting to creep in, but I think it shows the concept.
Just an option to consider. Might be worth a look back at the raw file.
Maybe adding a warming filter or warming the temp at conversion and an inverse curve will help.
I've seen the bird (actually there were two) at Estero.
Good job on the repost by Randy but the harsh, off-angled light are I am afraid fatal in this case.
It is common to see dark morph birds with white feathers but the late Rich Paul was always asking me if anyone had ever photographed a white bird with blue feathers....
