What do you think of the cobweb in the lower left corner? Lose it or leave it?

Beautiful bird, great capture. I like the composition, and the vertical crop definitely works. Yes, I would lose the cobweb.

Everybody's gonna have an idea about cropping, so I'll throw mine in now. I would also open up the shadow details around the eye a little more, and perhaps darken the lower part of the image, which I did here. All personal preferences. It's a fine image any way you do it.

Love the re post including evicting the cobweb Crop wise I was going to say I liked the original better but the larger size was influencing the appeal ..... re post at the same size would do just fine !!!

Fine image Jody and love the fine detail and how well it stands from the bg !!! Big Congrats !!!

Nice pose, good-looking bird. Crop wise, both work for me (slight preference for the original as I like the forked branch). Cobweb should go since it is only one strand.

Super pose, with a great head turn. I like the exposure, light and detail, together with the lovely colours in the BG. I would crop just above the spider web.

I sort of liked that little branch myself but cropped in favor of less space below the bird. However, it's easy enough to move the little branch up and graft it on higher. I'm undecided whether this adds or detracts. I still sort of like it.

    Jody:

Lovely bird. I like a compromise between yours and David's re: cropping.

To my eye, the repost is oversharpened or with too much contrast (kind of the same really).

I am sensitive to sharpening, and probably err on the slightly smoother side when in doubt.

I think the moved snag on the 2nd repost is interesting, adds a repeating line, which I do like.

I like the ORIG COMP best by far though the face could go a bit lighter. By cropping the bird is much less in the URC and to me that is weaker. Both re-posts appear to be overhsharpened perhaps from downsizing or perhaps as a result of resaving a JPEG.

I like thwm all with a slight edge going to the original. All of them need the pupil to go black though as they all suffer fron "steel eye". Cool BG!
