Sitting in a bird blind in Texas at ground level and this guy shows up. Needless to say it was a bonus.

Wow! I love this. The strong point of this image is the lighting which gives dramatic texture to the scales. I also like that you caught him with his tongue out. Well done.

Terrific catch! I'm glad I wasn't the one in the blind!!!!

You could count the feathers. Is he drinking?

No Wow, didn't know they were in Texas. Such a rare and beautiful snake down here. Nothing to criticize here, a great image. I love the tongue and water ripples.

    Dave,
Good find. I like the low angle and nice to capture this behaviour. This is a lot better than those images taken with wide angle lens with the snake restrained by their tail. Nice colours. Background is good as well. Thanks for sharing.

Well timed to capture the protruding tongue. Good light showing up excellent detail on the snake, and I like the hint of colour on him too. I dont know the species, as we dont get Indigo's here in Africa, but is he poisonous?

Nice capture. My cousin kept one of these in her bedroom (in a terrarium) all through high school.

This shot can be helped by a levels adjustment.

Is it poisonous:)??? Do like the repost by David, seems to give it more pop. Super sharp Dave. Lucky you just happened to be at ground level:)

Hi Jackie, That species is not poisonous. David, that snake can get 15 ft long. Must be a big terrarium. Thanks for the tip! I'll do a levels adj....

It was about 4 ft. long when her father bought it for her (during a trip to Florida). By the time she graduated from high school (my cousin, not the snake), it was over 12 ft. long. Not my idea of good bedroom company.

Nice angle. I like the colors and texture of the scales. David's tweak adds a little more pop to an already nice image.

Now that's an angle for a snake image that I have seen before. Way not to pass up an unexpected opportunity.
