This is a different angle from others I have recently seen. Like the wing pose and the branch is a nice bonus. It's nice to see the bird flying up to the nest for something different.

Excellent capture! I like the wing position and outstretched legs. The nest material is a special plus. However, the thing that makes it for me is the way the clouds seem to highlight the osprey.

I like the pose and comp, with the building material a bonus. Nice body and head angle.I would look to tone down the high lights on the back wing a bit and may lighten the sky a tad.

You guys must have very bright sunlight in Florida, I mean, ISO 320 f5.6 1/3200s !?

I like the details in the osprey, and that it stands out from the background very well.

Stunning light, and well timed for the incoming landing. I like the posture, and his building material a bonus. The Osprey is nice and sharp. Congrats on a fine image Michael.

Desmond; I believe that you are in error. As I figure it, sunny sixteen for a middle tone subject is 1/320 at f/16 or 1/2500 at f/5.6. Then go 2/3 to a stop darker for the whites would be either 1/4000 or 1/5000 at f/5.6.... Corrections welcome.

Love the bird, the pose, and the clouds. Head and upper breast look a bit dark and the jangle of the nest detracts. I lightened the head and upper breast a bit, got rid of the merging sticks, and then ran a 1.8 pixel Gaussian blur on the nest sticks to soften their effect on the image. With the bird angling towards the nest, I am hoping that the blurring does not look phony...

I think this is quite beautiful! I love the pose and the sky just makes the image. Wish the head were a little sharper.

I like the removal of the merging stick, but I think that the blur does look a little phony, maybe a touch less around 1.3?

Agree on the blur looking a bit unnatural. But the rest looks better on the repost by Arthur.

    Michael -

    Well captured IMO.
Late this AM I viewed your image and I like it. I played a bit with it but did not get a post made then.

I thought the sky was a bit dark especially in the corners and worked it a bit in LR with NDFilter tool.

I agreed the head and breast could be lightened but just a little too.

Removing some intersecting branches was one of the first things I thought of when I saw it and so I did remove some but tried to be subtle about that.

I did not think the nest distracting as it was in your original post and in fact thought it was an important part of the image. My eyes went into the image to the osprey easily, then considered the nest too but with an easy transition in considering it. I was not drawn away from the osprey by the nest but it was easily included with the main subject.

Anyway now I see you have received other comments since I first assessed the image. Here is a rework form this AM and I figure you may as well see it. If it were mine I might play with it even more and especially the sky. This may give you some ideas anyway -
