    Default A Pretty Redhead

A Redheaded Woodpecker of Course, A tough Exposure Bird with Red, White and Black contrasting colors. This was taken in a Small backwater of the Tennessee River in a old Skag. I believe they were looking for a nest site.

I really like the feather detail in the blacks and whites - -not always easy to get. And that red head really comes out nice. Good job

Good-looking specimen, good exposure control and details. I might crop a tad off the right and run NR on the BG.

You did nail the EXP, all three colors looking good, especially the iridescence in the black. The perch could stand a crop to comply with the rule of thirds.

    pretty sweet shot.
I've only come across this species once before, near Cape May.
I was digiscoping back then and wish dearly I had been able to get a shot as nice as this one.
The colours all seem to work very well together.
I like the pose and agree with Fabs regarding cropping the perch a bit.
A bit of NR on the BG and that's about it.

You have done an amazing job exposing for this bird. It's also nice to see a different kind of bird posted than we normally see. The red is just outstanding here, and I love the angle, pose, catchlight, detail.

I could have a poster of this guy in my living room!

Lovely combination of colors. Great subject to photograph.
