    Default Assignment: Blur

    Attached Images Attached Images

Zoom Blur from the Alligator Farm this past weekend.

Made with the Canon 100-400 5.6IS and 50D You start at the long end and zoom back as the image is exposed. Might want to start at 1/15 sec but should vary time ... also zooming speed. For even better zoom effects try placing camera on tripod and the base image in the center will be even sharper. This was done hand held at 1/15 sec.

This technique also works well when composing with bright colors !!!

    Comments welcome and much appreciated

BTW it looks like you pulled back on the lens just as the shutter closed? Seems like you have quite a bit of the center in relative focus unlike Artie's blurs which seem to have more of a pin point center, or am I all wrong????

    Very nice Al,

I'm amazed by zoom blurs. Is this what you meant
when you commented my blur post? Did you combine
    two images here?

Hi Jackie It all depends on how steady you hold the lens and how fast you smooth or not you zoom. I try not zooming for just a fraction and holding steady. This will keep the image recognizable in the center. When you start mounting in a tripod makes a huge difference since you can start at very slow speed (1/2 sec) which will make it easier to pause then zoom back !!

Ilija You can superimpose a second image but this is just one. Try what I mentioned above and should work !!!
