    Hi Danny,
I think Old Warrior would be an apt title for this given the number of scars he has in his face.

I would have liked more space at the top and less at the bottom as the dark areas in the bottom pull your eye away from the face. I am sure it would have been great just being with these fellows. Thanks for sharing.

    Cheers,
    Sabyasachi

A good portrait with problems that I have all too often. The crop of the top part of the mane looks accidental, a lower crop may make it look like you did it deliberately. Some more room to the left in the direction the eyes are looking would be great.

A great looking lion and a fine portrait. I wish you had not cropped the top of the mane...

I agree that the top missing part of the mane is not a good thing. If you have it, bring it back and add to the bottom. Those eyes are so thoughtful or forlorn looking. He is not there but off somewhere else in his mind. Love the emotional appeal to that part of it. The colors in the eyes are good too. As well the yellows and browns too. Excellent. Fix the top and it rocks.

That is one sharp image for the shutter speed Danny !!!! ... take advantage of the MK3 !!!

Love the tight composition and might go even tighter since you caught the bottom of the mane !!! I like it a lot !!!

Great sharpness. I like the look to the left. As others have said the clipped mane on top is less than ideal. I would consider removing the green OOF plant material from the lower mane.

    Thanks for the comments.
Indeed the clipped top of the mane was accidental.
I'll post more portrait images of this lion and his brothers (they are a 6 pack of male lions...very rare)
all of them gave me some nice full frame portraits.

I agree about a little more space around the subject. Besides that, it is a great portrait. I love the eyes and the soft light. Really brings out the scars on the face.
