    Default Brahminy Kite - Captive

    Hi There

Shot taken in the Woodland Owls display at the Hawk Conservancy Trust here in the UK of Brahminy Kite "Mindy" demonstrating the ability these birds have to pluck food or fish from the surface of lakes and ponds. they do not dive in, in the way an Osprey would, but instead grab their prey with razor sharp talons and fly off with it.

I liked the reflection in the pond on this one, unfortunately I just clipped the leading wing-tip, but heh ho there is always next week....it only took 2 years to get this one....so not long for another chance..

I like the pose, reflection and splash and hope you will get one unclipped within the next two years. :)

I removed the smilies because the image links prevented the forum software from creating a thumbnail.

That's such a nice capture, I wouldn't wait. On more than one occasion, I have extended the canvas and done a bit of wingtip surgery on shots like this. The bird's own mother wouldn't have known. ;)

Ditto canvas extension but great image. Light a bit harsh but well handled. Great reflection
