This Wonga Pigeon ventured out of its dense forest habitat to feed in an adjacent horse yard. New South Wales south coast.

Canon 40D, EF500 f/4, tripod, ISO400, f/4, 1/8000. Cropped slightly. The left foreground was in shadow so I replaced it with material from the right.

Great angle, pose, details and use of DOF. I might crop a bit off the bottom. Is this a captive bird?

Thank you for your comment Axel. It is a wild bird feeding on horse food.

Since this bird is not captive and I don't really see the horse feed, this one can be posted in the other bird forum. I can move it if you like. I'm with Axel.....a little off the bottom would be good. The bird is a very attractive pigeon and you have shown it's beautiful colors nicely. Very nice exposure and detail. I really like the eye contact that you have.

A difficult target Simon, I spent hours trying to get a shot of these birds recently. Plenty of detail in both the dark colours and the whites, for me maybe just a little off the bottom. I would be happy to get one half as good of this bird.
