Taking a break from the shorebirds. This one is from my backyard a couple weeks ago. The light was nice and diffused, but I had to use a high ISO to gain the needed shutter speed.

I would have liked a bit more DOF

Great natural-light hummer Aidan. The composition is just right and you picked a great flower. I'd be tempted to do a levels adjustment on the blacks, boost your saturation a tad, and apply a bit more sharpening to the bird. Here's a repost that does all of these things. How do you like it?

Perfect comp, great flower display, and an awesome BG. I really like Doug's repost, except for the reds on the flowers which are even more clipped than they previously were.

Very nice image , love the flower and the position of the Hummer I also think it needs a little more contrast and like Doug's repost.

    Thanks for the comments everyone.

Doug-I like your repost, the eye looks much better. However some of the details in the reds were lost.

I like the repost. It seemed to me that the original needed a curves adjustment to darken the whole scene. The repost moves it in that direction, but I still think it could be a little darker overall. Very well done. I like the choice of flower and background here for their complementary colors.

Super comp, and like the light and detail in this. I also like the softer colours in this too.

    Beautiful work Aidan!

I think Doug's repost helps this one.

Lovely presentation and species that I don't know, thanks for sharing it.
