You nailed this one!! The wings are in good position to show the beautifully coloured patterns. Nice lighting. Well done!!

What an incredible capture, what a helluva shutter speed, what a beautiful bird.

Sorry but I have run out of superlatives.:)

Lovely shot Corne, Nice to see a roller other than the Lilac-breasted. Lovely wing position and lighting. Look forward to seeing more.

Excellent pose, details and the open beak adds to it. There is a strong S/H halo, most visible around the dark parts. To prevent that you can use the magic wand tool on the sky and inverse before applying S/H. I'm not sure about the stick since it probably was not the take-off point and there seem to be some clone marks in the lower left part. What ISO did you use and was the image underexposed? Having said that, I really like the image. :)

Awesome capture Corne! This post only looks a bit oversharpened at the edges.

Very nice capture, but I have to agree with Axel about the noticable S/H. Also a bit of noticable sharpening on his chest. Beautiful pose and beautiful subject.

    ISO 400

I cloned out branches in the lower left hand corner, but the stick was the actual take-off point. The image was not underexposed. +1/3 exposure compensation dialed in.

Lovely colors and the action is superb.

I can see some haloing as mentioned.
