    Simon:

Fine looking bird. Reminds me of a cross between our robin and a rufous sided tohee.

Sharp, well exposed, nice background, good head angle.

    Thanks for sharing.

Quite beautiful. I like the colours, perch, and BG. Good light too. Focus looks perfect, but another subtle pass of USM would really give the fine details the sharpness they deserve. Well done!

Wonderful image, Simon. I can't remember seeing a better image of a Flame Robin.
Great exposure, sharpness, pose and background.

Thank you all for you comments. Daniel's feedback prompted me to critically look at the sharpness. I think the next frame in the burst was a tad crisper, so here it is with a bit more sharpening applied as well.

Great light and BG. I suspect the perch is an old fencepost? Looks fab mate. :)

Akos enquired about the perch: "I suspect the perch is an old fencepost?"

There are plenty of old fenceposts at this site, but this particular perch is the stump of a small tree felled 40-50? years ago when the area was a sheep station. These days we value our remnant eucalypt woodlands more, and the site is now part of Callum Brae Nature Reserve and a great spot for birds.

Dan has covered my only point and repost has addressed it perfectly. Great job, Simon.

Absolutely great bird. All aspects of the image are spot on. If I have one nit it would be that I'd like to see the gama lightened just a little; a little more dynice range. Love the bird. ;-)
