Here's a shot from Laguna Atascosa a few weeks back now.
Light was a bit tricky but the opportunity was golden.
One of the highlights of the Texas trip getting this species for sure.

I love these colorful birds. Would it have been possible to get a lower angle on this by any chance Paul? HA is almost perfect and I love the funky color reflections on the water's surface.
Great bird and REFLs. You did a good job with a difficult situation. The head area could be brightened a bit. Was this at a man made created water feature?

thanks for the comments everyone.
Art, the visitor center at Laguna Atascosa has a water feature right by the entrance.
I'm assuming that it's man-made.
Great spot to get bathing and drinking action.
I got lucky as it proved a much harder bird to get out on the trails.
Thakns for the info Paul. What other spots did you visit?

We hit up Corpus Christi, San Miguilito Ranch, Sabal Palms Sanctuary, Santa Ana Refuge, Estero Llano Grande and Frontera Sanctuary, in addition to Laguna Atascosa.
Wanted to check out San Antonio on our last day but were rained out unfortunately.
